Pie Pincushion

Pie Pincushion

Product Information

Pincushions are crazy fun to create .. and they are oh-SEW-simple to make ITH (In-The-Hoop)!  This is for all of you that asked for a "tart pincushion for a circle Wilton baking cup" ...

Introducing the

PIE PINCUSHION

How cute would these pie pincushions be on YOUR table at the craft fair, or your church's next bazaar?!

What is your favorite pie .. could it be pumpkin?

Or ... is a blueberry pie your choice?

OHHHHH, cherry pie sounds YUMMMMYY 'bout now!

We HAVE to have hubby's favorite .. APPLE!

Ok, I admit I used "Granny Smith bright GREEN" apples, and it appears I forgot to peel them .. YIKES, that's some seriously GREEN apple pie ..

The pie pincushion makes a great gift for your embroidery friends .. and your sewing guild buddies!  How many quilters do you know?  Ohhhhh .. here's another SWEET stocking stuffer!

Made in-the-hoop with fleece or felt, each pie pincushion stitches in less than 6 minutes .. so filling up the bakery takes no time at all!  The "pastry crust" is woven ~ it looks just like the "REAL" thing that Grandma used to make, and it's REALLY simple!  Here's a close-up ... how CUTE!!

You choose your cotton "fruit" fabric, and some felt .. easy peasy!! The "fruit" fabric can be any fabric you choose ~ the background fabric is also used in the pie:

Answers to FAPQ (Frequently Asked Pie Questions)
1)  I used Wilton Round Baking and Craft Cups ~ they are available at Joanns, Michaels, Hobby Lobby etc in the Wilton baking section OR via www.wilton.com
2) the MSRP of the (12) Wilton Baking Cups is $9.99.  I used a 40% off coupon, so each cup costs $0.50
3)  the berries-on-top are from assorted Thanksgiving and Christmas springs, and the blueberries are pom-poms!
4)  one-half of (1) 2 1/2" styrofoam ball is needed ..
5)  yes, the pie is "stuck" to the silicone baking cup .. after trying EVERY adhesive in my home, I found a small piece of "foam" carpet tape does the trick!     I purchased the carpet tape at the dollar store years ago ~ I know Target and Home Depot both carry Carpet tape!  Gayle discovered that Silicone Caulk works great too ~ THANKS Gayle!
6)  the "lattice" pie crust and edging is created by using pinking shears / pinking rotary cutter!
THANKS for your excitement, and have fun making pie pincushions!
